Gulf Coast Community Indicators is an initiative of Gulf Coast Community Foundation. This “state of the community” website provides a common source of data and analysis on critical topics that affect the health and progress of our region in order to inform community stakeholders, spur discussion and collaboration, and monitor our quality of life.
Together with our donors, Gulf Coast Community Foundation transforms our region through bold and proactive philanthropy. Gulf Coast was founded in 1995 from the sale of the community hospital in Venice, Florida, and today is the philanthropic home of nearly 600 families that have established charitable funds with us. Gulf Coast has also become a model for creativity and innovative thinking in philanthropy, with a focus on catalytic regional initiatives that create systemic change.
Gulf Coast Community Indicators is the latest manifestation of our belief that data is a guiding element of our work at Gulf Coast. By providing our regional communities with access to the same consolidated, current data on key indicators, we can measure progress and plan action together.
Gulf Coast Community Indicators was developed with assistance from the Center for Governmental Research (CGR), based in Rochester, New York. CGR is a nonprofit research and consulting firm that has created several community indicator projects in New York State, Tennessee, and other locations.
