Benefits of walking in nature

According to a New York Times blog article, a recent Stanford University study indicated that walking outside in a natural environment, such as a park, provided meaningful improvements in mental health. Brain activity was recorded for two test groups, before and after a walk outside, the first group in a park-like setting of the Stanford campus and the second group on a hectic, multi-lane highway. Those in the first group showed meaningful improvements in brain activity. This has implications for our own region's health and quality of life. Read more about these issues here
