Report: Florida ranks high in Pre-K access, but low in quality

A new report from the National Institute for Early Education Research on state-funded pre-K education sends a few mixed messages, according to this story from NPR: Enrollment and funding are up...but in many places, they are still remarkably low.

The report shows where Florida as a whole stands in relation to other states. (For local data on pre-K participation in our region and its counties from Gulf Coast Community Indicators, go here.) The new report also lays out the importance of looking beyond just the quantity of children enrolled, but also the quality of their education. Florida is on the highest end of the quantity spectrum, but lowest on the quality end, meeting only 3 of the 10 quality benchmarks.
